Google planning Android software store

Google showcases mobile operating system Android news
If Google makes a software product for mobile phones, trust it to be extremely internet-friendly. In fact, it is from the intangible assets on the internet that the search giant has been able to create tangible value for its founders and shareholders.
Therefore, it came as no surprise that the first mobile phone running on Google's Android operating system came across as being easy to use on the internet besides being host to a lot of innovative features.
Moreover, software developers wholeheartedly agreed that the Android mobile platform is easy to write applications for, a trend Google has encouraged by making the software open-source like Linux. Apple has also announced a similar initiative for its iconic iPhone.
In fact, the demonstration drew considerable comparison with the iPhone.
Demonstrating the device at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco, Andy Rubin, who heads up the project at the company, declined to give a specific release date for a Google-powered phone except that they will appear in the second half of the year.
Google will not make the phone, but has helped develop the software that handset manufacturers will install in their devices. Samsung, HTC, LG Electronics, and Motorola are among the companies that have said they will produce phones that run on Android.
One innovative feature demonstrated at the conference was an ingenious security tool where a user can unlock the device by drawing a secret figure of his choice on the touchscreen.
It also comes with a compass, which when built into a handset along with an accelerometer, would be able to orient maps according to which way the user was facing. As demonstrated with Google Maps Street View, it could show the exact view that a user was looking at, with street-name and address information built in to the map.

more.............

Google's self-developed platform for mobiles also known as Android has yet to see any mass entry into the market. However, that hasn't stopped Google from making grandiose plans for it. The search giant seems to be planning an application store to make devices based upon the platform more robust. Having the ability to modularize the software on your phone sounds good, though I'm a little doubtful on the willingness to pour money into a phone you've already paid for if all of a sudden you are expected to spend for every bit of added functionality.

Still, the idea is novel. Giving 3rd party developers a better chance to sell their software on a more accessible venue. Whether or not Google will offer such a permanent service is unknown at this stage, but if they want to compete with the iPhone (which still has its issues being a closed platform), it's a good start.

Google's Android To Offer Up App Store?

Another gem to come from Google's I/O conference is news that Android-powered phones will be able to access some sort of centralized store to find and download applications to the handset. This will be great for developers looking to distribute their applications, as well as users seeking new functionality for their phones.

Andy Rubin, the Android project leader for Google, didn't confirm the existence of an Android Store definitely, but he came close enough. The Register quotes him as saying, "It would be a great benefit to the Android community to provide a place where people can go to safely and securely download content and where a billing system would allow developers to get paid for their effort. We wouldn't have done our job if we didn't provide something that helps developers get distribution." During demonstrations, a button labeled "market" was visible on some Android screens, so it is possible that work on an application store is already well under way.

As a new market entrant, Android is going to need all the help it can get to spur adoption. One of the biggest issues facing the mobile industry is the discovery process of finding new content and applications for phones. Network operators have attempted to combat this with centralized stores where content can be purchased (think Verizon Wireless' Get It Now).

If Android phones can have access to a store where applications can easily be found, this will be a big boost for the platform. It will take away some of the fear that early adopters might feel about switching to the unproven operating system.

But Rubin made other comments that are noteworthy. The very nature of Android's open model and Apache license means that OEMs, software developers, and even network operators can tweak the APIs of the Android handset and vastly change the functionality of the phone. "They can add to it. They can remove from it. They make it their own. They can rip out all the Google stuff and put in all Yahoo stuff."

What shall we choose to do in the pursuit of happiness?

How shall we define happiness?
We must understand what we are looking for before we can start pursuing, otherwise we are wasting our resources. Personally, our time in life is the most scarce and non-renewable limited resource, so use it effectively and efficiently.Happiness is a state of emotional satisfaction or delight. The emphasis is on "emotional" because a satisfaction of functional needs like physiology and security does not elicit the kind of emotional impact we can describe as happiness. The question about money is particularly intriguing. Human resources experts have long known that once an employee receives compensation that meets his/her expectation or needs, more money will fail to motivate. Once the "hygiene" factors are satisfied, you need job-satisfying "motivators" over and above what money can buy to keep employees happy. Moreover, money is only a transaction medium to get to products and services. On the surface, money seems able to solve a lot of problems for a lot of people, but money alone will not solve all problems for all people. And you can witness that not all wealthy people are happy people either. As the popular saying goes, "Money can buy you a house, but it can't buy you a home."What are the things or experiences that can make us happy? Some may say chocolate and ice cream, the latest electronic gadgets, travel and shopping, sports, music, movies, jokes, comedies, stories, reading, painting, a family staying together in harmony and prosperity, be a Fortune-500 CEO, becoming president or prime minister, and a long list depending on individual preferences and dreams. The commonality is that they all have something to do with people, whether at the individual level or beyond, because we are talking about people's emotion of happiness, whether for the short-term or the long-term. But we can classify them into three categories, depending on the involvement of inputs and impacts. First, let us consider things and experience that involve only the individual and his or her material world or spiritual pursuit. Experiencing some beautiful scenery or palatable food can bring you happiness at the first level. Listening to enjoyable music or visiting an art museum may likewise be emotionally rewarding. Sometimes just a moment of solitude, away from the buzzing world, spells relief and brings a moment of happiness. Scoring an A for a paper well done may bring momentary happiness to a student, and successful graduation may bring another moment of joy. Landing your first job or winning a promotion all deserve well-earned celebration. Happiness felt at the individual level is level-one happiness. The operative word is enjoying: enjoying your moment of cherished experience or individual success. Now imagine you are sharing your level-one happiness with the people you cherish and love. Traveling with your family for some exotic experience brings a level of satisfaction or delight beyond that when you are traveling alone. Celebrating birthday or graduation and sharing a Soy-n-Joy "ice cream" cake with your loved ones, friends, and family warms up the occasion and spreads happiness around. And enjoying a concert, an opera or a museum visit with good or no companionship makes a lot of difference to the level of enjoyment. A home without its endeared people or memories of them is but an empty house. The operative word for level-two happiness is therefore sharing: sharing with your immediate circle of people you care about a lot. They enhance your feeling of happiness both in quality and quantity. Just like what the Volvo advertising says, "Life is better lived together."Then there are opportunities to leverage your talents, influence, and resources beyond your immediate self and circle of endearment. Depending on the quality and quantity of your inputs, you may generate quality and quantity impacts that can bring about immense happiness or misery, both to yourself and to the people affected by your decision. The more important and powerful your position, the broader and deeper the impact of your decision. This brings level-three happiness, if the impact is positive. The operative word here is leveraging: leveraging to maximize positive impact. By positive impact we mean it must be win-win and ethical. Otherwise we may be spreading nightmares around instead of happiness.Win-win means that we shall try to make everybody win in our undertakings. The other alternatives are lose-win, win-lose, and lose-lose. True lose-win is more of an exception than the norm. People willing to sacrifice as martyrs or stay as happy servants, without personal benefits, are rare. You will find people happily embracing sacrifice mostly in the religious context, in patriotic wars, or in selfless mothers caring for their families. Often the "loser" is the party without money or power, but is willing to make personal sacrifices in the hope of eventually turning things around. A servant leader like Mother Teresa touched the world; Saint Joan of Arc sacrificed herself in defense of her country; and caring mothers the world over are making sacrifices everyday for a better future of their families and children. Hence we can argue that there is winning in the sacrifice, though not always realized; and in fortunate cases, lose-win becomes win-win in the long-term. Win-lose, on the other hand, ultimately leads to lose-lose because people who have lost temporarily want to get even with you. The win-lose people who leave the world a worse place while enriching themselves are not happy souls. Drug dealers do not sleep well at night, fearful that their fellow gangsters may betray them, their rivals may get even with them, or the law will be bringing them to justice. Likewise, the mean-spirited, abusive bully is always fearful of people retaliating and giving them a dose of their own medicine. Meanwhile, the lose-lose avengers blame their misfortune on history or on the world, without trying positive things to better themselves today and their offspring tomorrow. Their mentality is: "If I can't win, then you can't either!" Lose-lose is the worst possible outcome of any interactive relationship: strikes that lead to bankrupt companies; rigged elections that destroy the credibility of elections; military dictatorship that fails to resolve social unrest at the roots and leads to turmoil; and potentially productive, synergistic relationship that breaks up rather than making amends. Ultimately, win-win is the only sustainable outcome (for the sustainable happiness of people involved), because all parties walk away happy, or continue to collaborate happily, when everyone benefits.Doing things consistently in an ethical way is what helps you sleep well at night. The Golden Rule says, "Don't do unto others that you don't want done unto you." This is the most basic rule of behavior expected in a civilized society. If we always reciprocate kindness with kindness, courtesy with courtesy, and caring with caring, we shall have a compassionate society in which people treat each other with respect, tolerance, and helpfulness. The ideal of utilitarianism says that whatever we do, we should strive for maximizing benefits to the most number of people. The concept of universalism suggests that we should treat people similarly irrespective of superficial differences. And the idea of distributive justice says we should treat people fairly: if you assign me the job of sharing an ice cream cake, I shall do the cutting and you the first picking. Good ethics will keep your impact positive and not negative.Level-one brings momentary happiness to the individual but is usually not very lasting. Chasing the next gadget, in particular, is happiness short-lived. It is like an addiction; you feel empty after the fix and wants to chase the next high. And then you feel like being led by the nose rather than being your own boss. Level-two is warmer, but the warmth is not felt beyond your immediate circle of people. Level-three is the most enduring, impactful, and rewarding. By taking care of the quality and quantity of inputs and impacts, you can maximize the benefit to the most number of people, making it win-win for the long-term. This entails leveraging your talents (knowledge, expertise), influence (power, reputation, relationship) and resources (time, money) to make a difference that is meaningful both to yourself and to the world at large. The world will become a better place because you have committed to a worthy cause, and may become a poorer place by your choosing not to. People who are sitting on huge talents, influence, and/or resources and who choose not to benefit the world outside of themselves or their immediate circle are doing themselves a big disfavor by denying themselves of this higher level of happiness, and doing the world a big disfavor by denying it the potential benefits of their commission. In addition, their decision to commit at level-3 will promote the stability of society, whereas their decision not to will undermine it. In other words, their lack of action amounts to a sin of omission that contributes to a lose-lose outcome.Bill Gates is adored not only because he has been successful in founding Microsoft that revolutionizes the world, but also because he and his wife give talents, influence, and resources toward supporting projects that benefit the developing world. You can rest assured that Bill and Melinda are very happy people. Bill Cosby has been an extremely successful entertainer, but his positive influence goes way beyond being a successful role model alone, when he leverages his talents (motivational speaker and writer), influence (his connection in the media circle), and resources (personal money and time) in helping to transform the black community in America, like his latest book's title: "From Victims to Victors." Al Gore wakes the world up to the reality of climate change, and has become a happy and respected Nobel laureate because of the impacts of his "Inconvenient Truth." (Alfred Nobel redeemed himself from the potential misuse of his explosive invention by instituting the positive and influential Nobel Prize). Oprah Winfrey was doing the right thing by leveraging her influence and resources in founding the "Leadership Academy for Girls" in South Africa, and you could not blame her, when the scandal hit, for being so obviously upset (the opposite of being happy). But you can count on her to turn things around and become happy again, knowing how resourceful and influential she is. And you can bet that "Doctors Without Borders" are a group of very happy people because of what they do. No wonder the organizations that are most motivating to people working in it are those committed to a cause that people can identify with. Religious organizations, for example, are noted for their dedicated groups of motivated, unpaid volunteers. Even Ben & Jerry's impresses people with their percentage profit set aside for social causes. Now just imagine if Soy-n-Joy can have the influence and resources of McDonald's or The Coca-Cola Company. That is why Soy-n-Joy is looking for partners worldwide. It will be an ethical win-win, not only to the people directly involved, but to the world at large. It will make the world happier, at all 3 levels of happiness, and a healthier one too! Finally, a word for parents: If you want your children to be happy in life by making good choices, decisions that reflect good values, beliefs, assumptions, and habits, you have got to prepare them well, early, before they make those decisions by themselves.

The Japanese government is deliberating on measures to improve the quake-resistant level of public school buildings

Japan to increase quake-resistant level for school buildings

The Japanese government is deliberating on measures to improve the quake-resistant level of public school buildings, said a chief government spokesman Wednesday.
Japan has some 10,000 school buildings with potential safety problems in the event of an earthquake, said Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura at a regular press briefing.
These school buildings need immediate repair work as they serve as evacuation shelters in case of any disaster, said Machimura.
He said that the central government might earmark more money for the quake-resistant reinforcement of school buildings since local governments are in tight fiscal conditions and could hardly bear the financial burdens.

big differences in estimates given in court today of how much it costs to keep New Jersey's former first couple in a gubernatorial lifestyle.

$51,000 or $15,000? Experts differ on McGreeveys' monthly lifestyle costs
There were big differences in estimates given in court today of how much it costs to keep New Jersey's former first couple in a gubernatorial lifestyle.
An accountant hired by ex-Gov. Jim McGreevey says it would cost a total of $15,000 a month for the governor and his estranged wife to live like they did at the governor's mansion. An expert hired by Dina Matos McGreevey says a lifestyle including personal security, a chef and use of two beach houses would cost $51,000 a month.Matos McGreevey wants alimony and child support from the now openly gay McGreevey. She's asking for compensation for the time she would have spent at the governor's mansion had her husband not resigned in 2004 amid a gay sex scandal.McGreevey is trying to convince the judge he's too poor to pay alimony.

The nation's first openly gay governor could have become a talk show host, pursued a movie deal or otherwise cashed in on his fame after a sex scandal forced him from office, a lawyer for his estranged wife argued Monday.

John Post, who represents Dina Matos McGreevey, is trying to convince the judge in the couple's divorce case that former Gov. James McGreevey has underestimated his earning potential and net worth to avoid paying alimony to his soon-to-be ex-wife.

McGreevey's lawyer, Stephen Haller, has tried to show that his client, now an Episcopal seminary student, is too poor to pay. The 50-year-old former governor has testified that he does not want to pursue high-profile jobs because he wants to quietly get on with his life.

Lawyers for the McGreeveys repeatedly clashed over money matters Monday as the judge tried to untangle the couple's assets and debts

Old but bold

Fashion: Old but bold
THERE’S a character in Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel The Leopard who says: “If we want things to stay as they are, they will have to change.” Gieves & Hawkes ought to have something like that emblazoned over the front door of its Georgian premises at 1 Savile Row.
Founded in 1771 as a military outfitters, no other firm has had more impact on men’s clothing. After all, it invented the suit. “People used to wear britches and stockings before,” muses managing director Mark Henderson. “The blazer is based on the military uniform. It is the source of pretty much all men’s style.”

TRAPPINGS
The dinner jacket, too, was invented on Savile Row — people used to wear white tie with tails, but the Duke of Windsor came in one day and asked for a black tie, and for the tails to be cut off his jacket. “That’s why there’s no vent on the back of a dinner jacket,” explains Henderson.
He is sitting at a desk in the order room, where thick, dog-eared and faded order books going back to the 18th century line glass cabinets. Old military uniforms hang on rails and a pot of tea sits brewing on the table.
But despite all the trappings of olde worlde-liness, this business isn’t stuck in the past. Henderson is excitedly showing me pictures on his laptop of a Gieves and Hawkes show that recently took place in Shanghai. China accounts for 50 per cent of its business and it has 68 shops in Asia — four in Shanghai, with another four to open later this year. The business has a turnover of £20m in the UK.

GLOBAL FASHION

If Henderson has his way, Gieves & Hawkes will retain its position at the top table of global fashion brands. To ensure it does so, he helped set up Savile Row Bespoke, a sort of co-operative of a number of tailors on the street, which promotes the Row and all it stands for.
“You have French wine, Swiss watches and Savile Row tailoring,” he says, adding that the group aims to capture and communicate the attractive “quaintness and energy” of the Row. “We’ve been selling Savile Row in Florence, Paris and Tokyo — we took one tonne of tailoring to Tokyo. The challenge is, how do you take the skills and the values that represent SavileRow and reproduce them.”
He says integrity is the key. It really is the craftsmanship that is the heart of Savile Row: the street has 20,000 sq ft of workshops. And a glimpse into Gieves & Hawkes’s shows what he means. There, in an atmosphere of quiet absorption; tailors cut and sew — some on an antique Singer machine. They range from those in the their twenties (Savile Row has a link with Newham College in east London and the London School of Fashion) all the way up to a 67-year-old coat-cutter.

POPULAR
But in this world of sweatshops and the £25 suit, is there are place in the modern world for this sort of workmanship? Henderson insists that the quality of the product will keep it popular. He says that a member of the House of Lords recently came in to get some alterations made to a suit that he had made when he got the advance for his first book — in 1958.
Savile Row suiting seems to be one of those things that everybody wants, once they have the money. Henderson says that Gieves & Hawkes are doing a roaring trade among London’s new international rich, and it has added 36 new outlets in the past two and a half years, taking the total to 91.
“People come to us because they love the experience,” shrugs Henderson. By the looks of things, that is something that isn’t going to change.G&H HISTORY LONDON BOYSGieves was founded in 1785, Hawkes in 1771. Gieves & Hawkes got its first of three royal warrants in 1809. In 1912 it came to 1 Savile Row, which was built by Lord Burlingham in 1732. Among the famous it has dressed are 19th century explorer Dr Livingstone and singer David Bowie.

Google launches medical records service beta test

Google Health Releases, Patient Records Go Online

Google Inc. on Monday opened its hosted online patient medical records service to the public, seven months after first announcing plans for a foray into health care.
The Google Health program, which allows patients to store personal health information online, this week continued to generate more questions about privacy and security than fanfare.
Carlton Doty, a Forrester Research Inc. analyst who follows consumer-based health IT efforts, said such efforts often prompt detractors to immediately decry a lack of privacy and security protections. However, he predicted that consumers will probably get over these concerns eventually, just as they have mostly overcome fears of providing credit card information to e-commerce Web sites.
However, Doty did note that a lack of sufficient partners could cause problems "The biggest barrier here is that for personal health records to really be useful, they need to tie together not just users inputting information, but [also] information from the provider from their electronic medical records and information from the insurers," he said. "I don't think Google or anybody is really there yet."
Early on, the program will rely mostly on a patient's own input because of the lack of partners outside of early signees such as The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and drug store chain Walgreens Co. "When it comes to lab data and medical history and those kinds of things, doctors rely today on reliable sources -- not the consumers themselves," Doty noted. In addition, he questioned whether Google can keep to its pledge not to include advertising on the Google Health site.
Pharmaceutical companies would be a likely source of advertising dollars, he said. "To effectively place those advertisements, you have to open up that database to those pharmaceutical companies," Doty said. "For me, to store my medical information in that type of a setting and have pretty much any company that targets health care consumers have access to my health care data -- even if it's anonymous -- it still just doesn't feel right."

In the Google Health privacy policy, the company pledged not to "sell, rent or share" consumer health information. "You control who can access your personal health information," the policy states. "By default, you are the only user who can view and edit your information. If you choose to, you can share your information with others."
Jeff Chester, executive director at the Center for Digital Democracy (CDD), a not-for-profit advocacy group in Washington, also questioned whether Google can keep its commitment to keep the site free of advertising.

In a blog post, Chester noted that Google is advertising for executives to operate what it calls its "Consumer Products and Health Care Marketplace." The job posting said that the executives will "be working with those who provide advertising solutions for companies that produce and sell consumables and health care products/services."

Chester said that consumers should have immediate online access to their health records, "but should the price we pay be tied to allowing health data storage providers collect information about our medical concerns and interests, so they can sell ads to pharmaceutical and health-related companies? There are serious questions which must be addressed about the implications not only to our health privacy, but [also] the impact on our behaviors from medical-related interactive marketing."

As for the security of the records, Jacqui Cheng, a blogger at Ars Technica LLC, noted that Google Health's ease of use could lead to security lapses.

If you already have an account with Google (already required in order to use Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar and the like), then you have already skipped a major step [of signing up for the service]," she noted. "This is also one of Google Health's possible downfalls, however, as it is now exceedingly easy for a hacker to discover someone's universal Google log-in (which, by the way, has no minimum requirement for secure passwords) and not just access their e-mail but their health records too."

Finally, Richard McManus, a blogger at Read Write Web, concluded in a blog post that the Google Health system still faces a large integration challenge in developing software that lives between patients and physicians and other health care entities.

"It feels like Google Health is not much more than a glorified health search engine/portal -- which to be fair is perhaps the whole point (Google's motto after all is to organize the world's information). In terms of the market for health apps, it is still a nascent one," McManus said. "Google Health is a decent entry into the game-changing (and potentially hugely profitable) world of health 2.0. But in comparison with other health start-ups, Google Health has a limited scope and is not as innovative a service as we've come to expect from Google."

Google yesterday launched a beta test of its long-awaited yet contentious Google Health service for archiving medical records and finding medical services.

The new offering, which launched with a handful of partners including pharmacies and clinics, is intended as a one-stop shop for users who want all their medical information in one place. Given the nature of the information being stored, however, the new site is likely to provoke controversy among privacy advocates who may be wary that the medical records are safe from tampering or snooping. Google, for its part, pledges never to sell a patient’s information, and promises that it will only share it with a patient’s permission – a permission that can be revoked at any time. It remains unclear how the search giant intends to profit from Google Health in the long-term, but it is possible that it will eventually charge doctors and hospitals if they want to be a part of the site. Google already faces competition from Microsoft, which began offering a similar HealthVault service in October. Revolution Health, a start-up backed by former AOL chairman Steve Case, is also believed to be working on a service for electronic medical records.

LIFESTYLE : DAILY ROUTINE-- Yogacharya Vishwas Mandlik

For healthy life, the lifestyle should also be considered along with the diet. We can control the diet to a considerable extent. But we cannot control much of the lifestyle. It does depend on others, but whatever lifestyle is under our control, if we try to control it properly, we can become more and more healthy. Hence, we will consider daily routine and seasonal routine in this chapter.

Ayurveda has given a deep thought to the daily routine. The day starts with getting up in the morning. The following shloka describes when one should get up in the morning.

Brahmmuhurte uttishthen swasthyaraksharthamayushah |
Tatra sarvarthashantyartham smareccha madhusudanam ||

One should get up at Brahma Muhurta. It means one and half-hours before the sunrise. At this time, the ozone necessary for the body is adequately present in the atmosphere. The activities of the entire world and especially of the living beings are yet to be started so the pollution is at its minimum. The cheerful atmosphere does have an effect on the body and the mind. Every one should get up in the morning and try to take benefit of this.

While determining the time of getting up, one should take into account the time of retiring to bed too. Generally, seven hours sleep is sufficient. People who can sleep deeply without disturbance can do with just 5 to 6 hours' sleep. Common people dream during the sleep and face the problem of disturbance from time to time; hence for them seven hours' sleep is needed. This seven hours' period and the time for getting up should be correlated so that it is convenient. One should get up before the sunrise and keeping that in mind should decide the time to go to bed.

After getting up from the sleep, kardarshan (viewing the palm of the hand) is advised:

Karagre Vasate Laxmi : karmadhye Saraswati |
Karmule tu Govind : Prabhate kardarshanam ||

Laxmi, Saraswati and Govind reside on the palm, so one should bow to them with respect, this is the logic behind kardarshan. Of course, with common sense point of view, to get hold of Laxmi ( money ) and Saraswati ( knowledge ) is in our hands only, to remind one of this principle is the main logic behind kardarshan. Also, our eyes are closed throughout the night, if suddenly they are opened up in the morning and the atmosphere is viewed, then there may be some strain for the eyes, so one should put both the hands onto the eyes after getting up, so they do not suddenly come into the contact with the atmosphere.

After kardarshan, there should be bhoomivandan ( bowing to the land ). Our life depends on the land, before touching it with the feet, one should apologize to that shakti (Energy Principle). There is a moral support behind this. It is a western custom to apologize after committing a mistake, it is Indian culture to apologize before committing a mistake realizing that the mistake has to be committed.

Samudravasane devi parvatstanmandale |
Vishnupatni namostubhyam padsparsham kshamaswa me ||

Vishunupati samutpanne shankhavarna-mahitale |
Aanek-ratnasampanne bhumidevi namo namah ||

The writer of this aphorism has described the land very poetically and with faith with the help of his high intuition. With these kind of samskaras (training to mind), the mind can be raised to a higher level.

After the praying to the earth (bhoomivandan), it is stated that
"Chintayet aatmano hitam | " ( Think carefully about your own benefits.)
After having slept for six to seven hours at night, one should not get up suddenly in the morning and start his daily work. One should sit peacefully and think about what is good for him. One should plan his entire day program at this time. Mind is very calm and enthusiastic when one gets up. The capacity to think from all the angles is at its maximum at this time. So also there are spiritual aspects of contemplation, which accrue.

Then there is movement of bowels. Excretion immediately after getting up from the bed is good, but due to inconvenient systems of the chawls, reading fresh newspapers first, or due to some other reasons, this natural order is not followed. In healthy people, there are miniscule suggestions to excrete, but if these suggestions are ignored, they go on weakening. Then the process of excretion does not stay normal. Whenever there is some time, the process is hurriedly carried out. Due to these habits, the health is affected.

After the bowel movement, there should be Ushahpan (Drinking Water). Nowadays, people are not even aware of it. They feel that bed tea and ushahpan (Drinking Water) are one and the same. Tea, as it is, is harmful to health. Bed Tea is even more harmful. Ushahpan (Drinking Water) helps improve the health. Drinking water stored overnight in a copper utensil, which is covered, in the morning is ushahpan (Drinking Water). This water helps the excretion tendency and purifies the intestines in the body.

After ushahpan (Drinking Water), one should wash the mouth. Ayurveda specifies dried twigs of from various herbs. Dried twigs of neem are the best. If it is not possible to get them, then one should use the ash of the cow dung cakes. It should be made clean after removing stones etc from it. If it is ground, then the stones in it also get ground and then it is harmful to the teeth. Those who want to use the brush should use the softest one possible. Thick and hard brush is harmful for the gums. The toothpaste, which is used with the brush contains various chemicals, so one should use the paste as per the advice of an expert doctor. One expert dentist has stated that water is the best paste available and the best brush is your finger. After cleaning teeth, there is Jivha Nirlekhan Vidhi ( tongue cleaning process ). The tongue should be cleaned with thin copper or silver plate. Lemon twig is better for this purpose. First the tip of the twig should be chewed to make it look like a brush, and then one should brush the teeth with that, divide the twig in between and clean the tongue with it. After washing the mouth like this, one should do nasya and anjan. One should put some oil or drops from other herbs into the nostrils according to his natural tendencies (prakruti). One should decide these materials with the advice of the Ayurveda consultant (vaidya). Also, to maintain the health of the eyes, it is useful to put certain materials in the form of anjans (helpful herbs to put in eyes). After this, certain essential herbs should be put in boiling water and the vapour should be inhaled through the nose and the mouth, this is known as dhumrapan (smoking). Different types of this dhrumapan eliminate different types of problems (dhoshas) in the body. From all this description, we realise that Ayurveda has gone into details to maintain the health of the body and the precautionary measures have included under the daily routine.

After all these processes, exercise and Abhyanga Snan (bath followed by oil massage) have to be undertaken. The ranking depends on the type of exercise done. If it is yogasana or pranayama, then it should be done after the bath. If the exercise involves tiring sessions such as push-ups, it should be done before the bath. Abhyang means massage with the oil. It should be done before the bath. There is no need to say that in a hot country like India, one should have a daily bath. But one should massage the body with oil and the soles of the feet with ghee. If it is not possible to massage the entire body with oil, then one should massage the head, ears, soles of the feet etc. The head should be massaged with the fingertips after removing the grown up nails. One or two drops of oil should be put into the ears so that the brain becomes calm. The sleep is improved and the eyesight gets better. The complaints of the eyesight are reduced. The oil ghee or butter to be used for such massage should be kept in a copper utensil. It should be churned a bit with water and used after removing the water. Rubbing it with a utensil is effective than rubbing it with hands. While rubbing one should rub towards the direction of the heart. Abhyang is useful in winter season and rainy season. The bathing water should be cold. At least water to be poured over the head should be cold and not hot. Cold water means water having the temperature as that of the body. Water, which is colder or warmer proves harmful.

After abhyanga, personal upasana (prayer, meditation etc) is important. Due to such upasana, the mind becomes cheerful and the spiritual power increases. The mental strength starts growing and there is confidence in the life. One should take guidance as to which prayer should be done and in what manner. But no doubt it proves useful.

After all these processes, one should do pratrashan. Pratrashan is morning drink. Milk is the best pratrashan and tea the worst. If milk required for tea is consumed on its own it will prove useful. Tannin, a poisonous substance in the tea harmfully affects the nervous system and the digestive system.

At the time of pratrashan, those who feel hungry can have breakfast. Fresh preparations made up of rice and wheat is good for breakfast. Now a days, bread and biscuits are used, but they are harmful to the health because these substances contain salts and they are fermented. Of course, those who consume enough milk and ghee or butter can have them without bad effects. But to avoid them is the best.

After this one should carry on the daily routine.

The lunchtime in the afternoon should be from 11 AM to 1 PM. That is the time of pitta, so appetizers are secreted in the stomach. The food consumed at this time is easily digested. If this time is not possible, then one should have food before the 11 AM, but not after 1 PM. What should the meal contain is an independent topic which we have already considered elsewhere. After lunch, one should not run around or carry on strenuous work. A Sanskrit verse by Sushrut states as under in this regard.

One who sits idle after lunch, becomes lazy. One who sleeps turns obese. One who walks around hundred steps, becomes healthy and one who runs, the death runs towards him. That means his life span is rapidly reduced. Now a days, many people complain of indigestion. There are many reasons for that, but one main reason is this running around after lunch.

In the evening, one should consume only liquids, not solid diet, because that lengthens the dinnertime. The dinner should be around sun set. Because it is good for health to have an interval of three hours between the dinner and retiring to bed. To sleep immediately after dinner is injurious to health. The dinner should be minimal i.e. easily digested. It should not contain heavy preparations.

The sleep at night is also thought provoking point. The place where one should sleep should be free of all insects. The bed should not be too soft or too hard. It should not bend in between. A bed with thick, narrow strips or wooden strips is better. One may take a pillow, but that also should not be very thin or thick. The pillow should have the same thickness as that of the distance between the head and the shoulders while sleeping on one side. This avoids the neck from getting stiff. Due to improper pillow, one can suffer from cold too. The bed sheet and the inner coverlet should be washed after every three to four days. Earlier one item of clothing known as uparane, which was, used daily was attached to a sheet while sleeping. The same was washed daily. While thinking about the behaviour at night, one should think about marital life too. The science writers have said that generally to retain health even at a later age, one should have sex once a week during the youth. Otherwise, the bad effects occur at a later stage.

Hatha Yoga

The term Hatha Yoga has been commonly used to describe the practice of asana (postures). The syllable 'ha' denotes the pranic (vital) force governing the physical body and 'tha' denotes the chitta (mental) force thus making Hatha Yoga a catalyst to an awakening of the two energies that govern our lives. More correctly the techniques described in Hatha Yoga harmonise and purify the body systems and focus the mind in preparation for more advanced chakra and kundalini practices.

The Hatha Yoga system includes asanaalong with the six shatkarmas(physical and mental detox techniques), mudras and bandhas(psycho-physiological energy release techniques) and Pranayama(pranic awakening practices). Fine tuning of the human personality at increasingly subtle levels leads to higher states of awareness and meditation.

The Ultimate Key to Happiness and Success

High Self-esteem

There is one necessary and essential ingredient for happiness and success. It is high self-esteem. In previous newsletters, I have explained how your self-concept controls your performance. Simply put, if you think you are a loser, you will perform as a loser. If you think you are winner, you will perform as a winner. If you think you are mediocre, your performance will be mediocre.

High self-esteem is your armor against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, as Hamlet might say. High self-esteem is your armor against rejection, disappointment, and criticism that we all experience in our daily lives. If your self-esteem is high, you will shrug off rejection, disappointment and criticism. You will forge ahead to reach your goals and succeed.

The Answer to Attaining High Self-esteem

To have High Self-esteem you need ongoing positive attention from others. It is essential. Positive attention is called a positive stroke. Eric Berne coined the term "stroke" to denote a unit of human recognition.

Why It's Called 'Strokes'

Here's a true story that explains the source of the term, 'stroke.' An orphanage in Romania had 50 infants with only two nurses to care for them night and day. It took all the nurses time and energy to prepare the formula and feed the babies. They had to prop the babie's bottles up on a pillow, insert the nipple in their mouth and go on to the next baby. The babies were well fed, they were warm and kept clean. Outside of this, they received no attention. The mortality rate was enormous.

A solution was found When Renee Spitz studied the problem at this and similar orphanages. Autopsies of deceased infants revealed that the baby's spines were shriveled up. The doctors prescribed physical stroking for new babies. Volunteers came in and simply stroked each infant. These babies survived. From these studies, the term 'strokes' was conceived. Although the strokes given the infants where physical, the term was expanded to include psychological strokes because they have effects similar to physical strokes. A psychological stroke is any kind of attention -- a greeting, a look, a word, a gesture, or any act that says "I know you're here."

Strokes are essential Not only for high self-esteem, they are essential for emotional and physical health. The power of strokes varies from a weak nod from a stranger to intense love between lovers.

People hunger for strokes And will go to surprising lengths to satisfy that hunger. You need to have your stroke hunger satisfied to feel good about yourself and have high self-esteem.

Positive Strokes and Negative Strokes

Strokes are either positive or negative. Positive strokes are honest, direct, appropriate, and relevant to the situation. They leave the person feeling good, alive, alert and significant.

Positive strokes can be an expression of affection or appreciation: "You saved the day by finishing that report." "It's a pleasure to work in the same office with you."

Positive strokes can be complements: "Your proposal is clear, concise, and what we need." "Your flowers brighten up the office."

Negative Strokes Some strokes are negative. A slap in the face, a criticism, a rejection are negative strokes and invite low self-esteem.

Someone can use positive words to give a negative stroke. For instance, if someone says, "Your proposal is clear, concise, and what we need," in a sarcastic tone, the effect is a negative stroke. Many people say they fear and hate rejection. Taking rejection as a personal discount of yourself diminishes your self-esteem. You feel less okay about yourself. That hurts. No wonder people fear and hate rejection.

In the business world, you cannot avoid getting negative strokes. The reality is that people have their own agendas. They may not want what you have to offer. Another source of negative strokes that you should understand is that there are a surprising number of people who make themselves feel better by putting others down. Sometimes you become their target through no fault of your own.

One defense is to withdraw and not be active. Obviously, this guarantees No action means no results, no business. A better defense than withdrawing is to have very high self-esteem so that you can shrug off negative strokes and continue doing business.

Building Positive Self-esteem with Strokes One of the ways to build your self-esteem is to put yourself into situations where you receive strong positive strokes. A loving supportive relationship with your mate is a great help. Choosing positive friends and colleagues is another good source of positive strokes. Joining a support group is an excellent strategy. This is the power of mastermind groups. You can hire a coach. A business coach is trained to give you positive strokes in the form of honest feedback and encouragement.

Giving positive strokes to others will also do wonders for your own self-esteem. Take every opportunity to acknowledge someone. Thank people. Give sincere complements and honest positive evaluations of colleagues' performances. Countless studies have shown that focusing on positive behaviors results in higher performance than focusing on the negative.

Avoid giving negative strokes. It can be very seductive to give "constructive criticism." Engage in this only when asked and you are sure the request is genuine. Avoid the "I'm only trying to help you" game like the plague.

Losers build up their self-esteem by tearing down people. Winners build up their self-esteem by building up people.

Summary

To achieve ultimate happiness and success, you need to have a winner mindset. A winner has high self-esteem that enables him to overcome rejections and negative strokes. An important way to build your self-esteem is to get and give positive strokes. Wishing you ultimate happiness and success,

High Self-esteem There is one necessary and essential ingredient for happiness and success. It is high self-esteem. In previous newsletters, I have explained how your self-concept controls your performance. Simply put, if you think you are a loser, you will perform as a loser. If you think you are winner, you will perform as a winner. If you think you are mediocre, your performance will be mediocre.

What is Life Happiness?

Everyone wants to be happy, but what does happiness really mean? How do we know if we're happy? Can anyone be happy all of the time? How do we find happiness? When we talk about life happiness, these are the questions that we ask.
Our perception of life happiness is as individual as the way we perceive hot or cold. For all of us, it's sort of the same, yet it's also different. Every individual person is different, and therefore each persons description of what makes a life happy will also be different.

Dictionary.com says happiness is:
1. Characterized by good luck; fortunate
2. Enjoying, showing, or marked by pleasure, satisfaction, or joy

Webster's Dictionary says happiness is: A state of well-being and contentment

So, if we use these definitions, in order for us to say we are happy we would be fortunate, showing pleasure and feeling content. That makes sense. Most of the people that we think are happy usually show these characteristics, so lets use this definition and go from there.

Can I have life happiness if I don't think I'm fortunate? Hmmm, that's an interesting question isn't it? Most people are happy when they feel fortunate or blessed by good luck, and most people who feel unfortunate or feel like they have lots of bad luck are unhappy. BUT, perception is everything. A person can break their leg in a skiing accident (bad luck) and still be happy and smiling because they feel blessed and fortunate (probably because they didn't break both legs!). They could be happy because they know they will heal, and because they had such a great time right up until they ran into that tree! Get the picture?

Or a person could have what most of us would call good fortune and still seem not to have life happiness. There is an art to happiness, and some of us know it and some of us don't, but we all can learn.

Is life happiness the same for everyone? Probably not, even though the normal signs of happiness listed above in the dictionary definitions probably show up in every person who is happy. Different things make different people happy, so happiness and the pursuit of happiness cannot be the same. For example: I am a quiet type of person who loves to work from home and socializes only once or twice a week. You may be a very gregarious person who works in an office full of people and lunches with a different person each day and goes to a party every Saturday evening. We're both happy, but our lifestyles are very different. Besides that, what you view as something that would produce happiness may not be a priority for me. Maybe it makes you happy to go on wonderful ski vacations twice a year. It might make me happy to go on wonderful vacations in my back yard and to squirrel my money away. Both situations are right, and we are both happy.

How do you know if you're happy? The best way to tell if you are happy is to ask yourself how you are feeling. Really feeling. Do you feel at ease, relaxed and OK with how things are going on a pretty consistent basis? Then you're probably happy. Feel your body. Is your body relaxed, does it feel calm? You're probably happy. Remember, happiness doesn't come from anywhere but inside. If you are in tune with what is right for you, you will be happy. If you are trying to live someone else's definition of authentic happiness, you probably won't be.

Can anyone have authentic happiness all the time? Yes! Well, OK, if a terrible tragedy strikes, you probably won't be happy at that time. But, you can work through the tragedy and the accompanying emotions knowing that life happiness can and will return when you've taken time to properly allow healing. Otherwise, yes. You can be happy all the time. Maybe not jumping up and down and laughing happy every moment, but peaceful content happy, certainly, and that's equally valuable. Life's small irritants come and go each and every day. We have a choice whether we greet them with a calm smile or with an angry frown. Either is fine, but the calm smile will help you navigate life in a more happy state of being, and help you find happiness on a consistent basis. Remember, the art of happiness has a lot to do with perception.

Recent research on happiness shows what many of us have long suspected. Happiness, and the pursuit of happiness has more to do with an individual's perception and what's going on inside that person, than money, fame, or power. Even though those things may bring a feeling that is like happiness, it is attached to those things. Authentic happiness seems to be much more attached to how a person looks at life. Fortunately, if you find yourself with a constant "glass half empty" outlook, you can teach yourself to have a "glass half full" attitude and gain happiness.

Being happy is the meaning of life for us humans! This is what many of the great masters believe. We all want to be happy. But what is happiness? Is it the same for everyone? How do we know if we're happy? And can anyone be happy all of the time? How can we find happiness?

Know yourself before making lifestyle changes

Fitness guru Bob Greene, former personal trainer to Oprah Winfrey, has advice for those who want to stick with a healthy lifestyle change.

The exercise physiologist spoke recently at the Biennial Conference for Women on the University of Illinois campus.

"A lot of people go into this process with either unrealistic expectations or at least unrealistic for what it takes to be successful," Greene said. "And everyone that I work with has been on a diet where they showed initial success, only to have that erode because they couldn't maintain whatever it was they were doing."

Making a personal change is a physical and psychological endeavor, he said.

"So the first thing that's really important to understand is really yourself," Greene said. "Why are you doing it? So many people do it for surface reasons, and those rarely hold up, and they're not in touch with the reasons they do it."

Losing 10 pounds or looking better in clothes are surface reasons, Greene said. Those who want to make a lifestyle change should look at areas of their life with which they are satisfied and unsatisfied and determine the types of changes they want to make, he advised. They should get to the root of why they are entering the process.

A second step is to understand that making a change is hard work.

"Whether that's the exercise or giving up your favorite foods, you're going to have to put something into it that you're most likely underestimating how hard that's going to be," Greene said.

He said those who journal are more likely to examine their strengths and weaknesses and, in his opinion, more likely to succeed. People who achieve success aren't obsessed with losing weight, eating certain foods or exercising, he said.

"That's not where the magic is," he said. "The magic is waking up each day and feeling real satisfaction taking a few small steps toward the best life for yourself."

Greene said he identified his great passion for helping people make these very personal changes in their lives during a shopping trip with Oprah Winfrey to help her get ready for her first half-marathon.

"There was a look in her eye that was like a child at Christmastime," he said. "This was a new experience for her, and there was an excitement and a willingness to look at her life completely differently."

What was God's Purpose in Creating Humanity?

Why Did God Create Human Beings
Into a Universe Already Heavily Contaminated With Sin?
Why did God create the human race? The answer often given by Christians is that God "wanted friends." But God had millions and millions of "friends" when He created the angels. Why did He create an entirely different order of being: humanity?

And why did God create humanity into a universe already heavily contaminated with sin?

The human race is not responsible for sin. Sin was ALREADY present in the universe when God created Adam and Eve. Satan and his evil angels had been sinning for some period of time, maybe a very long time, before Adam and Eve were created.

Why didn't God solve the SIN problem with the angels? After all, that's where the sin problem started. Why was the human race drawn into this mess? We didn't ask to be here. Not a single one of us asked to be born. And we certainly didn't ask to be born sinners. I don't mean that babies are born sinning, I just mean that, as the Bible says, "ALL have sinned. . ." Romans 3:23.

Why did God create Adam and Eve perfect and then put Satan right in their neighborhood?

If God really didn't want Adam and Eve to sin, why did God place the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil right in their "living room" where they had to pass by it every day?

Also, why did God create a single tree that contained the knowledge of BOTH good and evil? In other words, why did God combine "good" and "evil" in the same tree?

Before Adam and Eve sinned, is there any Biblical record that they ever praised God? The answer is "No."

Before they sinned, did Adam and Eve understand what a magnificent garden God had given them for their home? How could they, they had never experienced anything else.

Before they sinned, did Adam and Eve understand what good health was? How could they, they had never been sick! They had never seen disease nor death in anything-not in humanity, not in animals, nor in plants.

Adam and Eve could not appreciate any of these things because they had never known anything other than perfection.

The fact is, it is impossible to know what good health is unless you've been sick or you have seen sickness in someone else. It's impossible to be appropriately grateful for all you have if you have never been without. It's impossible to know "good" unless you have known the opposite: "evil."

The only way we change is by going through difficult times. If everything is going well, we'll just keep right on doing what we're doing. The ONLY reason we change course, and begin to grow in maturity and spirituality, the ONLY way we build character, is by going through trials.

Jesus came to this earth for at least three reasons: a) to reveal the true character of God, b) to show His great love for us by dying on the Cross and, c) to do away with sin. The Bible says that "the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world" Revelation 13:8.

The Plan of Salvation obviously was in place BEFORE the earth was created. Something had to be done to provide salvation for sinners or all would have been lost. Satan and the evil angels were already sinners before any human being was created.

Again, why didn't God solve the "sin problem" with the angels, who were obviously the first sinners? Mankind, Adam and Eve, were initially novices in the "sin" business which had been going on for some time in the heavenly realms before their creation on earth.

God's plan was for Jesus to come as a "man" and die for the sins of the world. Why couldn't Jesus have come as an angel and died for the sinning angels? Why did God instead have to create the human race, the majority of whom would go through hell on earth, then die, only to be resurrected, judged and then annihilated or "burned," either forever, or "as long as they deserve"?

In order for Jesus to come in the form of an angel, to die for the sins of the evil angels, angels would have to be capable of dying.

Do Angels Die?

Jesus gives the answer Himself in Luke 20:36, when the Sadducees were telling Jesus the story of the woman who married a man who subsequently died. She then married each of his six brothers, one after another, as each of the brothers died. The Sadducees asked Jesus whose wife she would be in heaven.

This is Jesus' response, in His own words:

"The children of this world marry and are given in marriage, but they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage;

"Neither can they die any more; for they are equal unto the angels. . ."

Jesus said it Himself. Angels don't die! Notice that Jesus did not say, "Good angels don't die." He said, "Angels (in general) don't die." If angels don't die then Jesus could NOT have come as an angel to die for the sins of the evil angels.

This created a major problem in the thinking of the righteous angels. Since sin entered the universe when Satan sinned, how could sin ever be eliminated from the universe if angels don't die?

A question we must ourselves ponder, is: If angels don't die, as Jesus Himself has told us, then how can the evil angels be "destroyed" from the earth and from the universe at the end?

And if they cannot be destroyed, then sin will remain in the universe for eternity!

Yet Jesus came to "do away with sin!" John 1:29.

So how does this all work out?

God created a new race of individuals, humanity, individuals with flesh and blood, individuals who were capable of dying, a necessity for the plan of salvation since Jesus' plan was to come in human form and DIE for the sins of the world. But human beings would be capable of dying ONLY if they sinned. Before sin there was no death, neither in Adam and Eve, nor in all of Creation. Even Satan and the evil angels had been sinning for a long time, yet they showed no signs of deterioration in their stamina. The same is true today. Satan and his evil angels are going strong! They have no flesh and blood, which is what deteriorates as a result of sin.

If neither Adam and Eve, nor their offspring, had sinned, there would be no death. In that case, there would be no need for Jesus to die for us, since no human being would have sinned. Adam and Eve still would have been as innocent as little children. They would not have known the difference between good and evil. They would have been incapable of purposely choosing God for His goodness because they knew nothing else. It would have been impossible for them to glory in God's fabulous creation because they had no opportunity to know anything else. It would have been impossible for Adam to Eve to appreciate God's boundless love for His children, whether perfect or sinful, because Adam and Eve knew nothing of sin, calamity or utter wickedness.

It was necessary for them to know evil in order for them eventually to choose "good," intelligently and willingly.

Therefore, sin was a necessary part of the plan of salvation. Without sin, there would be no death. Without sin, Adam and Eve would never have experienced the opposite of "good," which would allow them eventually to understand and abhor evil. Every human being had to be "dipped" in sin to be able to understand first hand the ruinous consequences of sin, to understand that sin leads to death. Sin was imperative because it introduced death to the human race, a prerequisite necessary for Jesus to come in human form and DIE to redeem mankind.

It is impossible to know good without knowing evil; it is impossible to learn right without understanding what is wrong, and that often takes personal experience in wrong-doing. It is impossible to build character without having trials and tribulations. The only way we change is by having trouble. If everything is going along fine, we will NEVER change. It takes troubles, catastrophes, illness, financial upsets, severe loneliness, heartbreak, to force us to change our direction, to turn us to God!

We now see that sin was a necessary part of the plan of salvation. That means that the lead sinner, Satan, had and still has, a specific purpose. His purpose was, and still is, to be the opponent, the antagonist, the Adversary against God. In fact, the name Satan actually means Adversary. God, Himself, provides opposition to truth in order to bring attention to truth, to clarify truth and to magnify the difference between truth and lies, between good and evil. That is still happening today.

Satan was designated to be the Adversary against Christ, just as Judas was designated to be the betrayer of Christ. After all, SOMEONE had to do it! John 17:12

"The troubles of the universe originated among the celestials, among the angels, long before man was created. Humanity was an entirely separate creation, made in the image and likeness of God to be the form in which God's own Son could come to give up His life for the universe, and remedy what had gone wrong in that higher sphere.

"Thus humanity is made the vehicle through which the reconciling of the universe is to be effected, even though all efforts of humanity itself are in vain and come to nothing, and it is left to God to provide, in the person of His Son, the one effectual means by which this reconciliation is to be accomplished." The Place of Humanity in God's Purpose, J.H.Essex, pg 45

"The real reason for the creation of humanity was that it would provide a form in which it would be possible for our Lord to come and give His life for the universe. That is why man was made in the image and likeness of God-that Jesus could come in human guise and still be recognized as the Son of God." Ibid pg 67.

The Lamb was slain "from the foundation of the world" Revelation 13:8. God's purpose in every facet and detail was planned from the outset, and in no sense whatever is any part of it an improvisation to meet an emergency. He is the One Who tells "from the beginning the hereafter, and from aforetime, what has not yet been done, saying, All My counsel shall be confirmed, and all My desire will I do" Isaiah 46:10. He is "the One Who is operating ALL in accord with the counsel of His own will" Ephesians 1:11, and Who has purposed "to head up all in the Christ, both in the heavens and that on earth," and "through Him, to reconcile ALL to Him. . . whether those on the earth or those in the heavens" Ephesians 1:10, Colossians 1:20.

"When the reconciliation of all is complete, the joy of the universe will be full. When the purpose of the All-sufficient God has reached its consummation, and He is All in all (1 Corinthians 15:28), every heart will be filled with the true laughter which accompanies the praise and adoration of Him Who is Supreme and Whose name is Love." Ibid pg 72.

God has not created one more person than required
for the completion of the Plan of Salvation.

God does NOT waste anything! When Jesus fed the 5,000 men plus women and children, with 5 loaves and 2 fish, there were scraps of bread left over, according to Matthew 14:13-21. Jesus instructed His disciples to gather up the fragments of bread that resulted in the collection of twelve baskets. The extra pieces of bread apparently were then taken home by members of the crowd. The scraps of bread were NOT thrown away. They were NOT wasted.

God does NOT waste anything! In nature, matter is never lost! The flowers die and return to the earth, but matter is not lost.

God does NOT waste anything! He knows every sparrow that falls but tells us that we're much more important than the sparrows. (Matthew 10:31)

So how could God throw away (permanently destroy or annihilate) billions of His children whom He has created? They are far more important than scraps of bread. We must learn about God's character from nature, from God's fabulous creation. Nature proves to us that God never throws anything away, even His errant children.

But He doesn't leave us in our sinful wretchedness. God tells us in His own words how He treats His erring children, including the evil angels who "don't die." Jesus says, "Behold, I make ALL NEW!" (Revelation 21:5) "I came not to destroy men's lives, but to SAVE them" Luke 9:56. "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, WILL draw ALL unto Me" John 12:32.

God has a specific purpose for your life, a purpose that no one else can fulfill. But first He must draw you to Him through the trials and tribulations that we bring on ourselves-including disease! It's all for a specific purpose. Serious illness should turn us to the Great Physician who promises to "forgive all our sins and (THEN) heal ALL our diseases" Psalm 103:3. Through this experience He wants to change your life.

What a wonderful God we have. Who would want to struggle through life without Him!

So the question remains, does one have to be a Christian in order to get well? And if so, then why do so many "Christians" die of disease?

A true follower of Christ, a true Christian, will allow Jesus to make ALL of his or her decisions. When that happens, that Christian will no longer be sick. He will have given his mind and heart and body fully to Christ. You don't become well just by calling yourself a Christian. You must learn to trust Jesus completely, to go to Him with every problem and NOT to man.

This entire health plan is an exercise in obedience.

Simply put, the process of getting well is the process of getting to know God!

The process of getting well is the process of learning to trust God completely and depend on Him for everything.

Are you tired of the corporate jungle and "rat race"? Do you want to simplify your life? Now you can

Your Perfect LifeStyle

You're in your car on your way home from work. You are relieved, happy, and confident, because you just told your boss you're not coming back.

No more bosses, no more nine to five, no more lousy salary, and no more "Rat Race".

The ride home with bumper-to-bumper traffic surrounding you, and several stoplights, doesn't bother you one bit. Because you won't have to do it ever again-no more commuting!

The money and time you save will be put to much better use-starting a new life.

In a nearby smaller city, you found a condo close to everything you love. First thing Monday morning, you and your spouse will be working from home. Your spouse will be telecommuting working on the Internet helping people save and make money with an international discount program.

You will have your own business, as a Fitness/Wellness Coach to local businesses. You also work part time at a nearby spa, conducting classes and consultations.

A relaxed morning with breakfast together is appreciated while you discuss your day. You have appointments with a couple local companies who want to set up health programs for their employees, then a talk with a local spa manager to conduct some classes. Your spouse reminds you that both of you have a meeting with a local council member to starting fundraiser to build a playscape. Your spouse will be on the Internet working all morning.

That evening you're both invited to a neighbor's for a "welcome to the neighborhood" dinner. There you meet some new friends who are involved in the community theater group. You and spouse are very much interested.

You and your spouse's daily schedules are flexible to get involved in the community; social activities, arts, theater, and volunteering with the elderly and youth groups.

You are living your ideal life, close to home, just being together and planning for the future.

Yes, this scenario is possible. Hundreds of people are doing it.

Best Leadership Advice: Business Success Secrets from 7 Top Leaders

Great advice comes from many sources - parents, other relatives, consultants, bosses, co-workers, mentors, teachers, coaches, and friends. The important point to remember is to stay open, listen to everyone, but develop your own leadership style.

Best Leadership Advice: Business Success Secrets from 7 Top Leaders"

Fortune magazine once published an article entitled "The Best Advice I Ever Got." It was a great article that offered wit and wisdom about achieving business success. I liked it so much, that it motivated me to produce my newest book, Leadership-Best Advice I Ever Got, which describes the best leadership advice 136 successful CEOs, coaches, consultants, professors, managers, executives, presidents, politicians, and religious leaders received that most helped them become effective and successful leaders.

Here are 7 secrets to leadership success:

1. Leadership is about making things happen

If you want to make something happen with your life - in school, in your profession or in your community, do it. Perceived obstacles crumble against persistent desire. John Baldoni, Author, Leadership Communication Consultant and Founder of Baldoni Consulting LLC, shared this advice that had come from his father, a physician. He taught him the value of persistence. At the same time, his mother taught him compassion for others. Therefore, persistence for your cause should not be gained at the expense of others. Another bit of leadership wisdom!

2. Listen and understand the issue, then lead

Time and time again we have all been told, "God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason"...or as Stephen Covey said..."Seek to understand, rather than be understood." As a leader, listening first to the issue, then trying to coach, has been the most valuable advice that Cordia Harrington, President and CEO of Tennessee Bun Company has been given.

3. Answer the three questions everyone within your organization wants answers to

What the people of an organization want from their leader are answers to the following: Where are we going? How are we going to get there? What is my role? Kevin Nolan, President & Chief Executive Officer of Affinity Health Systems, Inc. believes the more clarity that can be added to each of the three questions, the better the result.

4. Master the goals that will allow you to work anywhere in today's dynamic business world

Debbe Kennedy, President, CEO and Founder of Global Dialogue Center and Leadership Solutions Companies, and author of Action Dialogues and Breakthrough once shared this piece of advice that was instrumental in shaping her direction, future and achievements.

She was a young manager at IBM just promoted to her first staff assignment in a regional marketing office. For reasons she can't explain, one of her colleagues named Bookie called her into his office while she was visiting his location. He then began to offer unsolicited advice, but advice that now stays fresh in her mind. He mentioned that jobs, missions, titles and organizations would come and go as business is dynamic-- meaning it is always changing. He advised her not to focus your goals toward any of these, but instead learn to master the skills that will allow you to work anywhere.

He was talking about four skills:

* The ability to develop an idea
* Effectively plan for its implementation
* Execute second-to-none
* Achieve superior results time after time.

With this in mind, Kennedy advises readers to seek jobs and opportunities with this in mind. Forget what others do. Work to be known for delivering excellence. It speaks for itself and it opens doors.

5. Be curious

Curiosity is a prerequisite to continuous improvement and even excellence. The person who gave Mary Jean Thornton, Former Executive Vice President & CIO, The Travelers this advice urged her to study people, processes, and structures. He inspired her to be intellectually curious. He often reminded Thornton that making progress, in part, was based upon thinking. She has learned to apply this notion of intellectual curiosity by thinking about her organization's future, understanding the present, and knowing and challenging herself to creatively move the people and the organization closer to its vision.

6. Listen to both sides of the argument

The most valuable advice Brian P. Lees, Massachusetts State Senator and Senate Minority Leader ever received came from his mentor, United States Senator Edward W. Brooke III. He told him to listen to all different kinds of people and ideas. Listening only to those who share your background and opinions can be imprudent. It is important to respect your neighbors' rights to their own views. Listening to and talking with a variety of people, from professors to police officers, from senior citizens to schoolchildren, is essential not only to be a good leader in business, but to also be a valuable member within your community.

7. Prepare, prepare, prepare

If you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail. If one has truly prepared and something goes wrong the strength of the rest of what you've prepared for usually makes this something easier to handle without crisis and panic. One of the best pieces of advice Dave Hixson, Men's Varsity Basketball Coach at Amherst College has ever received and continues to use and pass on is this anonymous quote-"Preparation is the science of winning."

Along with this are two expressions from Rick Pitino's book Success is a Choice, which speaks to preparation. Hixson asks his teams every year: "Do you deserve to win?" and "Have you done the work?" This speaks to the importance of preparation toward achieving your final goal. If you haven't done the work (preparation) the answer to the second question is an easy "no!"

Great advice comes from many sources - parents, other relatives, consultants, bosses, co-workers, mentors, teachers, coaches, and friends. The important point to remember is to stay open, listen to everyone, but also develop your own leadership style.
