Spring fashion trends for men and women

It may be the spring of the shrinking pocketbook .The season's trends for men and women could fill a California Closet, but they're available at all price points. And there's nothing that's an absolute must-have for fashionistas who don't want to lose their credentials.

We blinked and saw that "I Dream of Jeannie" harem pants were prowling around the catwalks, and that jumpsuits had jumped out of the '70s onto the runways again.

Jeans have made their way back into designers' good graces, though fashion gurus are still pushing the idea that looking put-together remains the overriding trend when dressing up or down.

We say take advantage of the fact that you don't have to have a particular body type or taste anymore to fit in.

If heavy metals are your thing, go for metallics.

Get graphic in a tee.

Go bold with a big bracelet.

Strut your stuff in stripes.

It's all good.

What isn't okay to wear these days is probably the best question.

If you want to take on the tight economy and show who wears the pants, try mixing less expensive pieces with ones that cost more. Yes, fashionistas, it is possible, and you'll find the world will still be here in the morning.

With the right style and the right swagger, you can rock a $400 dress with a bangin' $10 bangle, and no one will be the wiser.
